Children's Dentistry

At Family Dentistry of Columbus, we believe in creating a positive and comfortable experience that will result in a life-long relationship of trust and confidence with you
and your child. We recommend that a child's first oral health visit take place between
3 and 4 years of age. This is an ideal time for our team to evaluate your child's oral, dental and nutritional health, as well as to diagnose any problems which may exist.

During your child's first visit we will:
  • Inquire about your child’s medical history
  • Learn about your child’s dietary habits
  • Assess the need for fluoride supplements
  • Evaluate the child’s oral hygiene and discuss oral hygiene techniques
  • Examine the mouth for dental cavities or other issues
  • Prepare to provide preventive, interceptive or restorative services

Everyone, especially kids, should see the dentist to have their teeth cleaned every six months. Decay is more likely to happen when kids are young so it is important to have regular appointments.

Contact Us to schedule your children's dental appointments.

At what age should I take my child for their first dentist appointment?

The first treatment for children is generally recommended between three and four years of age, unless an unusual problem arises. A healthy head start to oral care can last a lifetime.
